Vacuum Pressure Casting

Blue Power vacuum pressure casting systems – the right solution for each casting project.

Our vacuum pressure casting systems are mainly used for precision casting using the lost wax process, but also for casting in permanent molds. In the lost-wax process, a wax model is provided with a sprue for the later metal inflow and embedded in a ceramic mass in a so-called flask. The flask is heated in an oven with a defined temperature profile. The wax model burns out completely, the remaining cavity corresponds to the later cast part. After completion of the firing process, the hot flask is placed in the vacuum chamber of the casting machine. Pouring into the mold takes place in different ways depending on the design principle of the systems:

The machines of the VC series are based on the locking rod principle:

the crucible with the molten metal sits above the flask. The outlet of the flask is closed by a closing rod during the melting process. At the start of the casting process, the rod is lifted, allowing the melt to drain. For pouring, the crucible is pressurized and the flask under vacuum. In this way, the liquid metal is pressed into the finest branches of the casting mold. The vacuum prevents air pockets and porosity. With many VC models, outstanding form filling is supported by the Blue Power vibration system.

The casting machines of the MC series and the VTC series are tilting casting systems:

crucible and flask are placed in a common housing. In the VTC series machines the housing is divided to allow different pressure conditions for the crucible and cuvette area. The entire unit is tilted for pouring. The contents of the crucible are emptied into the mold, supported by appropriate vacuum overpressure controls. The tilt casting principle is advantageous for all metals and alloys that flow poorly or that tend to form deposits and encrustations on crucibles and other parts.

In systems built according to the sealing rod principle, these residues would inevitably lead to leaks and thus short downtimes for the crucible and sealing rod. With the tilt casting principle, these risks do not exist, and the consumables such as crucibles are significantly cheaper. Also most MC models and all VTC models are equipped with our outstanding vibration system for optimized form filling.
